Dominic White is a Palawa man, descendant of the Trawoolaway, through his birth mother’s family, and is based on Bunurong /Boon Wurrung Country, Mornington Peninsula.
Adopted as a child, his art has been following a process of reclamation of his heritage.
A multi-disciplinary artist, White originally trained as a printmaker at ANU, his work now spans contemporary printmaking, sculpture, photography, ceramics and contemporary jewellery.
It explores connection, observation, responsibility, and obligation in different mediums, examining cultural, historical human activities and interaction with place and materials.
Often the material cultural context informs the work.
