WINTER SALON 2023 : Warm Hues + Winter Lights

Overview

Lush colours of the tropical north and textured ochres of the Kimberley meet vibrant hues of Central Australia in an exhibition of new works by established and new generation artists.

We're delighted to be showing new paintings  by Lockhart River artists  Rosella Namok, Fiona Omeenyo and Samantha Hobson whose work we have long shown, and welcome to the gallery the painter and newly-appointed CEO of the Lockhart River community, Silas Hobson.

Emerging Waringarri artist Cathy Ward, grandaughter of senior Kimberley artist Peggy Griffiths paints the stories of her grandmother's place while  Mimili artist Josina Nyarpinginku Pumani also paints her grandmother,Milatjari Pumani's, Country of Antara in the APY Lands.

A suite of landscapes by Eastern Desert artist Selina Teece Pwerle, captures the vibrancy of her father's country in glowing reds, greens, blues and yellows; a stunning new work just in by Ernabella's Atipalku Intjalki resonates  in soft  pinks, oranges and earth tones, and women's stories of plants and ceremonies form the basis of paintings by Utopia artists Charmaine Pwerle,  Jeannie Mills Pwerle, Lizzie Moss Pwerle and Teresa Purla.
