Overview

WARM HUES + WINTER LIGHTS
An extensive exhibition of new paintings and sculptures by a wide range of leading artists and rising stars of Aboriginal art from the Central and Western Deserts, the APY Lands, the Kimberley, Arnhem Land and Queensland. 

 

The selection includes vibrant warmer toned works by  by Agnes Nampijinpa Brown, Judith Nungarrayi Martin and Mitchell Japanganka Martin from Warlukurlangu Artists of the Western Desert; Belinda Golder Kngwarreye, Bernadine Kemarre, Caroline Petrick Kngwarreye, Emily Pwerle, Janet Golder Kngwarreye, Jeannie Mills Pwerle and Lizzie Moss Pwerle from Utopia; the Kimberley's Rosie Kudji Goodjie's glowing work on perspex from Mangkaja Arts and Evelyn Malgil's ochre and acrylic from Warmun Arts; Mornington Island Arts, Elsie Gabori; Bugai Whyoulter from the Pilbara's Martumili Artists;  the APY Lands'  Kathryn Queama from Maruku Arts: Jennifer Ingkatji from Tjala Arts and Daisy Barney, Julie Yatjitja, Maringka Burton, Priscilla Singer, Rosalind Tjanyari and Yatjiki (Vicki) Cullinan from Iwantja Arts. 

Deep blues and ochre tone works  include  Chantelle  Nampijinpa Robertson's and Julie Nangala Robertson's stunning large Water Dreaming  works from the Western Desert; ochres on paper from Arnhem Land by Injalak Arts'  Gabriel Maralngurra and Nelson Nayilibidji and Utopia /Alice Springs artist Raymond Walter Penangke's detailed Emu Feathers acrylic while glowing  vistas of the Eastern Desert by Selina Teece Pwerle and Ada Pula Beasley bring both warmth and vitality that light the winter days.
