Overview

Aboriginal art in  monochrome. Plus complementary colors of reds,ochres, and earth tones. 40+ works include acrylic paintings from the Western and Central Deserts, Utopia and the APY Lands as well as barks, works on paper, paintings and ceremonial poles from the Tiwi Islands and Arnhem Land. 


Highlights include a lyrical black, white and ochre-toned collaborative by the APY Land's Raylene Walatinna and Daisy Barney; monochrome renditions of Utopia artist Janet Golder Kngwarreye's popular My Country paintings;  fine lined paintings by Lizzie Moss Pwerle and Natasha Nakamarra Oldfield; striking black, white, brown and blue Mina Mina works by celebrated Western Desert painter Julie Nangala Robertson; works in ochre by the Tiwi Island's Maria Josette Orsto and Josephine Burak; a deep-hued red and black work by Ernabella's Tjunkaya Tapaya OAM; limited edition prints by Mulkun Wirrpanda, and ceremonial poles from East Arnhem Land in neutral natural materials.
