Granddaughter of Ada Bird Petyarre, one of the well known early women painters of Utopia, Tanya Bird Mbitjana depicts women's ceremonial designs referring to the designs Anmatyerre women painted on their body for women's ceremonies called Awelye. Women collect bush fruits such as native plums and currants for ceremonies and represent them in their paintings of women's ceremonies along with the lines representing the designs painted on the body.
