Amanda Jane Gabori was born in 1966 and s the youngest daughter of the famous artist Sally Gabori (c. 1925-2015). She was born in the township of Gununa on Mornington Island at the old hospital which is now the Council Office. She says" I am one of 10 children. I went to school on Mornington island and then went to Atherton State School to complete years 11 & 12." "I have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. I started painting when I was just sitting at home and wanted to go up and join my mum painting as she was really enjoying it. I paint my Country on Bentinck Island and Dibirdibi which is my language name and totem given to me by my father. Dibirdibi is the small river rock cod. I like to paint the scales that cover his body."

In this painting I have painted these scales.
