Pattern and Palette

Overview

Presented in partnership with Salt Contemporary Art, Pattern and Palette explores the wide variety of styles, differing textures and colour in contemporary Aboriginal art. From the classic iconography of paintings from the Western Desert, the Pilbara, and the Tiwi Islands; to textured ochres of the Kimberley and Arnhem Land and the luminous colouration and design of the paintings of Central Australia and the APY Lands, the works depict ancestral journeys, the creation of landforms, water sites, flora and fauna, and ceremonial practice.
