Barbara Mbitjana Moore grew up in Amoonguna and her father’s country near Ti-Tree in the Northern Territory, moving to Amata in Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in South Australia when she married. 

 

Barbara is an Aboriginal senior health worker for Nganampa Health. She works in a full time position at Atama Clinic and also commits to her painting practice working at the art centre on a daily basis.

 

Moore began painting in 2003 and has gained considerable acclaim for her vibrant and expressive representations of her country. In 2012, Moore won the painting category of the 29th Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award with this striking work.
