Katherine Nakamarra Pintupi, b. 1968

Katherine Nakamarra was born in 1968 and is the third eldest child of Walangkura Napanangka and Johnny Yungut Tjupurrula. Walangkura and Johnny were both major artists and shareholders with Papunya Tula Artists with Johnny painting from 1978 to 2014, and Walangkura from 1996 until 2009.

Katherine’s most celebrated site is that of Tjintjintjin about halfway between Kintore and Kiwirrkura which she inherited through her mother Walangkura. She produced her first works through the Company in 2006 under the guidance of Walangkura and soon became a consistent artist who has since been exhibited on a regular basis.
