His paintings, such as this, usually feature the important waterholes of his country and have a geometric balance - featuring the waterholes as roundels, oblongs or squares within the canvas that depict the sites of the major waterholes of his country – Tapu, Kurrjalpartu, Kayalijarti, Kurraly Kurraly, Walypa, Wayampajarti, Kumpujarti – and after which the paintings are named. His work, such as this painting, often features two colours - the juxtaposition of which either creates great differentiation and clarity of imagery or almost a third colour of the blend.
