Kurrung is the Kunwinjku term for the late Dry Season in the north of Australia. It runs from around August to October, between Wurrkeng (the early Dry) and Kunumeleng (the humid "Build Up" to the Wet Season). It is one of six seasons recognised by the Kunwinjku people. At this time of year, all the waterholes are drying up. This image represents the leaves of Mandem (the water lily) as they dry out on the cracking mud of the floodplain.
