The artist has painted a number of game animals found in the Stone Country of West Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. Animals common in the sandstone plateau country include nadjinem, the male black rock wallaby, kalawan the goanna and ngarrbek the echidna which is depicted searching for food in a termite mound. Gavin has painted in the Kunwinjku “x-ray” style with their internal organs shown indicating that they are game animals.
