Sea, Sand & Salt
A broad ranging exhibition by artists from Far North Queensland, the Kimberley, Central Desert and the APY Lands highlighting the differing terrains of the artists' sea, sand and salt pan countries.
Rain falls softly over the Coral Sea in Rosella Namok's iconic imagery, while Selina Teece Pwerle's detailed landscapes are born from a lifetime's knowledge observing her Eastern Desert Country.
Lizzie Moss Pwerle's monochrome paintings depict the lines made in the sand by women as they dance for ceremony and Freddy Ken's painterly spears represent mens ceremonial spears made from the mulga woods of his desert sand country.
Kimberley artist David Brown's luminous landscapes depict the sand dune-rich country of his birth - Kiwirrkurra in the far Western Desert, while Janice Stanley's striking paintings capture the shimmer of light on water as it flows over the salt pans of an important Seven Sisters site near her home community of Ernabella in the APY Lands.
