Tiger Yaltangki
35 7/8 x 18 1/8 in
Mamu are spirit creatures or monsters that are invisible to the eye, but can be seen by ngangkari's (traditional healers.) Mamu may appear in a persons dreams during sleep, or sometimes are found walking the desert landscape. These spirit creatures can be friendly, but are often thought of as scary characters that can be quite cheeky. Tiger Yaltangki invented his own personal mamu. They oftenresemble animals, people, and science fiction characters. Influenced by television programmes such as The Mighty Boosh and Doctor Who, Tigers spirit figures were boldly presented.
