Born in 1973 Janet Golder Kngwarreye is a mid generation artist of the Utopia region. Having always depicted the women's sites of her father's country, in this new series of works of her Alhlakere Country, Janet is paying homage to both the famous artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye and her late grandfather- the painter Kudditji Kngwarreye.. Janet with those two senior artists share custodianship for Alhalkere country. Yams are of great significance to the women of Alhalkere who are entitled to depict its Dreaming and celebrate the yam in their Awelye ceremonies.
