Charles was a master draughtsman. He spent his life drawing continually almost every day from the age of 8.
When he had no other art materials at hand he could rely on drawing. He was able to create space and shadows like
the great masters of engraving and this gift stayed with him till his very last days. This is an intense and detailed still
life, a description of his own particular domestic work, imbued with his extraordinary ability and talent.
