In the early 2000's Charles began a series of oversized watercolours. He created images that were often comical and entertaining. This large work on paper depicts a Mermaid contemplating the vast blue sea. Charles made a play on words with the French and called her a Meremaid, meaning mother, rather than mer which means sea.
