Jawarlaliny Tata Lizard

Jawarlaliny nginya. Berrem ngarrgalem, ngarrgalem-ni, ngoorroom. Berdij giniyin. Barlalin berdij giniyi deg gerne barlilin. Dega ngerne. 

This is a tata or shakey paw lizard. Here are his rocks (painted below him) and there. He climbed up. He climbed up on the flat rock, he is looking. He is looking now. "Gabiya berdij nginbiyan?" Berdijbe ngidjende gaardaya. Deg gerne-boorroo miyale, barre-warre-ngarri birrirn boornoom. "Which way will I climb?" (he says). He goes climbing up slowly. He is looking for his meat, for flies where they land.


Boornoom jang ngerne. Berrem nhawiyangem miyale na berrem boornoom. Dama mari-mari beniyinji. Jawarlaliny nginy, mari- mari beniyinji dama, nhawiyangem miyale. Mangan-mangan ngerne, marlam dam. Berrema-ni.

He eats flies. These here are his meat, these flies (painted above him). He is sneaking up on them. This tata lizard is sneaking up on his meat. He waves his hand. Here is his hand (points to it).
