Michelle Butler Nakamarra Pintupi, b. 1992
42 1/8 x 29 7/8 in
Michelle is a young and 'rising star' Western Desert artist from a long line of important painters which includes her grandfather Tommy Lowry Tjapaltjarri. She paints her country around Tjukurla - a remote Western desert community, which is home to Pintupi and Ngaanyatjarra people who established the community with the return to homelands movement of the 1980s. The countryside is surrounded by dramatic sandhills cut through with watercourses and rockholes - all of which Michelle depicts in her detailed paintings.
