Jack Britten
23 5/8 x 31 1/2 in
Jack Britten was one of the most important founding artists of the Warmun/East Kimberley ochre school of painting of the mid 1980s. This exact location in Purnululu country has not been specified, but it is country for the Biddgulland Dreaming.
In the Ngarrangkarni, Biddgulland left his walking track in this country. He walked around underground all through this country, until he found a place to camp and thats where he finally settled. Jack has shown the tracks of Biddgullang through the minute markings across the top of the painting. Jack has achieved this marking by placing his pen knife in the ochre and working it across the canvas in a side ways or rocking motion.
