"This is my Jawoojing Dawang (grandfather's country), Nganalam. The hill in the background and the billabong in front is part of that country, Nganalam, Cockatoo Spgrings, near to what now is Lake Argyle in WA. My jawoojing (maternal grandfather) used to take me around that country on a four wheeler when I was little, telling me the stories of the country. The creek, Cockatoo Creek, runs all the way through Newry Station, the country where my Ngajang (father's mother) was born, and meets up with the Keep River. These are my two countries, from each side of my family, meeting. All over that country Manyinying (bush medicine) grows thick, all year round. You boil it and have a bath in it."
