Anita Pumani Pitjantjatjara, b. 1982

Anita Pumani is a younger generation artist from Mimili in the APY Lands. She notes that community is very important to her family. Her paintings are of the Indigenous Protected Area of Antara where the women perform ceremonies (inma), collect witchetty grubs (maku) and other bush tucker. Her great aunt Milatjari Pumani taught her how to respect the main women's dreaming - Maku Tjurkurpa - for the Mimili Community.

"I also teach my daughters what Maku Tjurkurpa means. I am proud to be custodian of that country."
